Maple Burl
Botanical Name:
Acer macrophyllum
Character / Color:
The Oregon maple yields a pale reddish burl veneer with a pleasant radiance. The uniformly colored burl cores and wavy growth rings produce a soft pattern reminiscent of a watercolor. However, frequently occurring, disruptive bark inclusions make it difficult to find wide expanses of beautiful veneer with a homogenous grain structure.
Main Occurrence:
Northwestern USA, especially Oregon
Usage:
Decorative furniture fronts and interior woodwork and car interiors
